Summer Festival
From July 10th to August 27th the annual Summer Festival is the most prestigious event in Croatia.
The festival uses the medieval cityscape of Dubrovnik as its stage

Julian Rachlin & Friends Chamber Music Festival
For several years, the world renown violinist, Julian Rachlin, has presented a host of classical musicians for a festival at the end of August and early September.

Lindo Folklore Ensemble
Outstanding folk dance that performs during the Summer Festival and twice a week until the end of October at Lazareti. Their schedule changes, so it is always worth a try to see if they are performing during your stay. Highy recommended. |

Feast of St. Blaise
St. Blaise is the patron saint of Dubrovnik, his statues are everywhere in the old town. Each year on Febuary 3rd there is a procession and celebration of St. Blaise. This feast has taken place since 1190 and many of the participants wear the local costumes of yesterday.

Trips on Galleon Ships
The city/state of Ragusa (Dubrovnik) was famous for its galleons. Today two companies have recreated these historic ships, the Karaka and the Tirena, tours are available out Dubrovnik.

Sea Kayaking
From May 15th to October 15th there are daily 9am depatures from Dubrovnik kayaking to Lokrum with a break and lunch on Lokrum, before returning to the city. Difficulty level, easy, suitable for beginners. |

Scuba Diving
From May 1st to November 1st, Blue Planet Centre offers scuba lessons and half day or full day diving excursions from the shore or by boat. Rental equipment is available for the Centre's clients. PAD instructor.

Water Polo Klub "VK" JUG
This powerhouse club won the Euro League in 1980,2001 and 2006. Croatia has many JUG players on their national team that won the FINA World Championships in 2006/07. The games in Dubrovnik are pure entertainment, the locals are enthusiastic about their team and the games. "Divlja Liga" or Wild League games between local beach teams are played at the public beaches during the month of July and August. |

Swimming and Beaches
Most of the beaches are pebbles, and light beach shoes are recommended if you are of tender foot. Banje Beach is directly below the villa, down the stairs across the street. Deck chair and umbrellas are available for rent. There is a beach bar, a restaurant across the street and it is an easy walk to the Old Town for more cafes. Sveti Jakov Beach is a longer walk from the villa, but is a lovely and quieter beach. Lokrum offers beaches on both sides of the island and a nudist beach on the south side. The Lokrum ferry runs from the port in the Old Town. |

Walking
There is a lovely walk just outside the villa's gate going south there is a road that follows along the coastline. Lokrum offers long walks and the Old Town is a walkers dream. The Old Town is a living, breathing museum, walk all the streets, visit all of the churches, museums and art galleries. There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to stop for a rest or a little break.

Shopping
There is a general grocery store close to the villa. For fun grocery shopping, there is an open market in the Old Town every Monday through Friday morning in Gundulic Square. There is also a very good meat market in this square. There is a second open air market in Gruz also Monday through Friday morning. Bus #8 stops just outside the villa gate and will take you directly to Gruz, you will be able to see the market directly on the right hand side. In Gruz you will find great produce, fresh flowers and a large fish market. Recommended to go early. There will be information on other shopping; jewelry, antiques, art and dining made available on arrival to the villa.
